Ask me anything

I'm Madi and this is my journey to healthy. My goals are confidence , health, and fitness and I won't stop until I've achieved them :) I'm working on toning up and losing excess fat the healthy way, but mostly I'm working on gaining and keeping a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life. I love questions so don't hesitate to ask me anything :)

If you are overweight or struggle with weight take a second to read this. Being overweight is not the problem, it’s the symptom. Instead of asking yourself why you can’t stick to your diet try asking yourself why you are overeating. What emotions and situations led to your binge. Binge eating disorder is a serious problem that is more common then anorexia and bulemia combined. However it is hugely underdiagnosed because people feel that they are just lazy or lack willpower. Binge eating disorder has nothing to do with will power. It is a disease of the mind just like any other eating disorder. You can get help but the first step is to realize you have a problem. If you

*sneak food

*eat abnormally quickly

*consume large amounts of food without feeling physical hunger

*eat to the point of feeling sick

*feel ashamed or depressed after a binge

*binge eat at least two days a week for six months

*feel a lack of control or as though you are not present during a binge

*feel as though you can not stop a binge even if you want to

you may have binge eating disorder. These behaviors are not normal and they aren’t your fault. It’s important to get help. Binge eating disorder (BED) can lead to Type 2 diabetes, Gallbladder disease, High cholesterol, High blood pressure, Heart disease, Certain types of cancer, Osteoarthritis, Joint and muscle pain, Gastrointestinal problems, and Sleep apnea.  Don’t let this disease control you, take control and get help.

when a person eats, the pleasure center in their brain is activated. For most people, eating a certain amount of food creates a good amount of pleasure. However, for some people, eating that same amount of food only activates one third of that pleasure. therefore, they eat three times as much as is necessary in order to get the same amount of pleasure that most people get with less. Studies have shown that people who are overweight or obese are almost always the people whose brains activate less of the pleasure center. Overweight people are not ’lazy’, sometimes it truly is a chemical imbalance. If you think that you may have this problem, don’t worry, it’s one hundred percent possible to overcome. All you have to do is rewire your brain by learning to equate healthier and smaller amounts of food with health and happiness. Being aware of your relationship and possible problems with food is half of the battle. Good luck everyone!
